The American Alliance of Museums (AAM) is one of the world’s foremost museum organisations, dedicated to championing equitable and impactful museums by connecting people, fostering learning and community, and nurturing museum excellence. Its annual conference brings together museum professionals from across the entire field to stimulate conversations, forge connections and effect change across some of the most important topics and frontiers faced by communities today.
Inspired by the annual themes of the AAM conference, Barker Langham has developed an evolving series of posters and publications that address urgent questions facing the museum sector. Unveiled annually at this conference - beginning with the 2023 Annual Meeting in Denver and continuing through 2026 – each edition explores themes such as planetary responsibility, public memory and institutional change. Designed to spark dialogue, the posters are available online alongside an accompanying booklet–inviting cultural professionals to reflect, respond and reimagine the museum’s role in shaping the future.
